The company was founded in 1.952 by Dr. Seráfin Cándano Suárez and taken over by his sons Serafin and Jesús Cándano González as WorKshop Director and General Manager respectively. Mr Serafin Cándano Suárez, dealt with both posts since the fondation of the company until 1.963, when he delegated in his son Serafin C ándano González as Workshop Director. In 1.984 Mr. Seráfin named his second son, Jesus Cándano González, General Manager of the company until the present day since the beginning.

These workshops have dealt with naval construction and maintenance, firsthy in the port of Cudillero , in Asturias, and later on throughout all the national territory of Spain, after the entrance of Spain into the European Common Market, the campany has. also worked in Europe, South Amenca and North Africa. Although the beginnings were dedicated to maintenance, after three years the company started to design and manufacture several types of machinery, mainly hydraulic groups, as the market denianded in those days, and has kept on in iproving such activity ever since. About 1.956 - l .957 the company started to provide ships with full equipment from scratch. All these jobs were made in small boats until the 6Os, when the company was able to work on rnediurn-to-high tonnage ships, mainly in fields like engine ensambling, whole axil lines, tanks, deck equíprnent; hydraulie groups, rudders, and every kind af machine used by hshing and angling boats. All the equipment mentioned but engines, has always been mide or transformed in our workshops. Which have all the machines and tools required by any kind of manufacturing and rnaintenanee tasks that are dealt with. Talleres Cándano S.L. own a building of 780 m2 in Puerto Nuevo (Cudillero) with several dependences used for manufacture and maintenance workshops, stores and offices. It also has a mobile 4.000 kg. elevator, a 25 ton crane truck, twa workshop-vans and two other cars.
